The key to the high performance of the new 4581 siaramic and 4582 siaramic fibre discs from sia Abrasives is the regular, triangular shape of the ceramic grit. In conventional abrasive discs, the ceramic grit has more of an irregular block shape, which leads to a ploughing effect during material removal and creates unwelcome excess heat. In contrast, the new generation of siaramic ceramic grit cuts cleanly through metal and achieves a high removal rate. This significantly speeds up grinding work. In comparison with conventional ceramic abrasives, users of the siaramic fibre discs can grind welded seams up to 40% faster.

In addition, a cooling additive has been applied to the fibre discs in the 4582 siaramic series. This counteracts any unwanted discolouration of the workpiece as a result of heat development while grinding stainless steel. The lower grinding temperature also increases disc lifetime.

The special structure of the siaramic grit provides an outstanding self-sharpening effect that allows the user to achieve a continuous grinding result throughout the whole service life of the disc.
